About The Little Shop
A family-run little shop in the heart of Bagenalstown - known up and down the country for friendly service, community spirit, and our famous 99 ice creams.
A LOCAL LEGEND"Even horses come to The Little Shop for the famous 99s."
We're a small family-run shop in Bagenalstown, and we've been part of the town for over 80 years. Pop in for the paper, a few messages, a friendly chat - and, of course, the 99 ice-cream that everyone keeps coming back for.
Our traditional Irish 99 - soft vanilla, a crisp cone, a Cadbury Flake on top — has become a bit of a local legend. We like to say the craic is 99, and on a sunny day out the front of the shop, you'll see exactly what we mean.

Four Generations & Counting
The Little Shop has been at the heart of Muine Bheag since 1942, when Matt and Annie Whelan first opened its doors during the challenging years of World War II.
What began as a small family-run sweet shop soon became a beloved part of the local community.
After Matt and Annie, their daughter Dolores took over the business, while her sister Margaret Cushen helped whenever she could.
When Dolores sadly passed away at just 49 years of age, ownership of The Little Shop passed to Ronan, & still runs it today with his brother Shane.
Today, they proudly continue the family tradition, serving the community with the same warmth, humour and personal service that has defined The Little Shop for generations.

The Traditional Irish 99
A true Irish classic, the 99 is a simple combination of smooth vanilla ice cream, a crisp cone, and a chocolate flake - but done properly, it's unforgettable.
For generations, our 99s have been part of summer memories, family traditions, and special moments shared with loved ones. Made with the same care and attention to detail that has defined this family business since 1942, it's no wonder so many customers call it the best 99 they've ever tasted.
